What Is The Tiger 1 Card?
The Tiger 1 Card is the official Texas Southern University (TSU) identification card
for all students, faculty, staff, contractors, and visitors. The card is required
identification for all active members of the TSU community. The card comes with multi-functionalities
and serves as a meal plan card; debit card for meals, vending, copier, and bookstore
purchases; access card to buildings and parking gates, and other campus card services.
Where Do I Get My Tiger 1 Card?
The Tiger 1 Card Office is located in Room 232, Sterling Student Center. The Office
hours are 8:00am until 5:00pm, Monday through Friday. All students are required to
be registered and enrolled in classes before a Tiger 1 Card is issued. New faculty
and staff must be assigned a University identification T-Number, and present a copy
of their Personnel Action Form before the card is issued. State photo identification
is required.
Where Can I Use My Tiger 1 Card?
The Tiger 1 Card can be used for purchases in the Barnes & Nobles Campus Bookstore,
all campus dining facilities, various vending machines and copiers located in the
Sterling Student Center, Campus Recreation Center, access to certain buildings and
parking gates, and some computer labs. Plans are to expand card services throughout
the entire campus community in the near future.
Tiger Bucks Account
Faculty, Staff, and Students have the option to deposit funds directly into the Tiger
Bucks (flex) account. This account is automatically set up when your Tiger 1 Card
is issued. You have the option to deposit funds into this account at anytime. It
is a convenient way for students to pay for purchases at various venues on campus.
Depositing funds into your Tiger Bucks account indicates full agreement with the Tiger 1 Card’s Terms and Conditions.
Declining Balance Account
The Declining Balance Meal Plan Account is a plan offered to upper class students
and commuter students. This plan requires a minimum of $300.00 deposit that will allow
for food purchases to be deducted from the account when used. The Declining Balance
Meal Plan may be used at any of the University’s Dining locations. The fund may be
rolled over to the Spring Semester but any balance left in the account at the end
of the Spring Semester is forfeited.
Tiger Bucks and Declining Balance Deposits
Students that sign-up for a declining balance meal plan will be charged to their university
account up until the 12th class day. All declining balance deposits after the 12th
class day will be made at the Phil Station (located on the 1st Floor in the Sterling
Student Center) or the Bursar’s Office located in the Basement of the Bell Building.
There is a $300 minimum deposit per semester for this plan.
A Tiger Bucks account is automatically assigned with zero dollars to all cardholders
when the Tiger 1 Card is issued. A deposit for any amount is required to activate
the debit card functionalities of the card. Cash, check, debit and credit card deposits
are accepted at the Bursar’s Office, located in the basement of the Bell Building.
There is a minimum deposit of $100 at this location. There are no dollar restrictions
for those that choose to make a deposit at the Phil Station, which is located in the
Sterling Student Center.
Tiger 1 Card eAccounts
Faculty, Staff and Students can get online to deposit money into their TigerBucks
account via the
Tiger 1 Card eAccounts portal. The Blackboard Transact eAccounts portal lets you manage your campus card account.
With its online account management you can add TigerBucks to your account, view your
account activity, and manage your card. You can even check on your Dining Points or
Declining Balance information.
Lost Card Replacements
Your lost or stolen card should be reported immediately to the Tiger 1 Card Office,
located in Room 232, Sterling Student Center, or call (713) 313-7029. The office
hours are 8:00am until 5:00pm Monday through Friday. There is a $15 replacement fee
for all lost or stolen cards. If the original card is found after being issued a new
card, the original should be destroyed, as it will not function. The Tiger 1 Card
Office and Texas Southern University are not responsible for any charges made on a
lost or stolen card. Please read the terms and conditions when it comes to your responsibility
for reporting lost or stolen cards.
