Instructional design is the process of analyzing the learning needs and goals of a learner and developing a delivery system to meet those needs and goals. The basic process usually includes a series of steps that include analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation to ensure that the learner has acquired the needed skills and knowledge identified by a set of learning goals and objectives. The learning needs are accompanied with innovative teaching methods, technology, and best practices in developing instruction.

Instructional designers support faculty and staff in their use of technology as it relates to teaching and learning. This may include:

• Working with faculty to identify student learning needs
• Developing course goals and objectives to ensure a clear path to accomplish learning needs
• Assisting faculty in the structure of course materials and activities for hybrid and online class delivery
• Assisting in adapting instructional materials from traditional or hybrid, to online courses/li>
• Supporting the use of our Course Management System (Blackboard)
• Utilizing various types of media to support learning
• Assisting in the development of assessments and evaluations for a course or instructor
