Texas Southern University has partnered with the Sloan Consortium to provide more web based faculty development resources. The Sloan Consortium is an institutional and professional leadership organization dedicated to integrating online education into the mainstream of higher education, helping institutions and individual educators improve the quality, scale, and breadth of education.

The format for the Workshop: Each workshop has elements of the following:

  • Self paced learning materials;
  • Two to Four live webinar sessions and asynchronous discussions
  • Assignments, online group sessions.

Faculty members who register for the workshop but are unable to actively participate during the "active workshop period" have up to one year from the date of registration to complete the workshop. Participants who are able to complete the workshop on schedule will be eligible for a Certificate of Completion from the Consortium.

The workshops are offered all year long and cover a broad range of topics such as:

  • 1) Dynamic Collaboration, Discussion, and Facilitation Practices
  • Academic Integrity in Online Education
  • Great Web 2.0 Tools to Improve Learning
  • MERLOT 101: An Introduction to MERLOT

steps for workshop registration

1. Create a free personal account - Click Here

2. Email the following information to coleit@tsu.edu

  • The name and email address used during the account creation process above.
  • The title of the workshop you would like to attend.
  • In the subject field write: SloanC Workshop

3. COLEIT will process the workshop registration and a confirmation email will be sent to you. Follow the instructions in the confirmation email to access the workshop.

4. Be sure to login to the workshop within 24hrs from the start date to confirm your attendance. Registered participants who fail to login within 24hrs will not be able to access the workshop at all.
