opportunities Undergraduate Research Program As part of the desire of the current administration to enhance research enterprise on the TSU campus, the Research Unit of the Office of the Provost announces a new initiative (URP) with the goal of early exposure of bright and highly motivated undergraduate and professional students in all majors to research. Under this initiative, a number of competitive fellowships will be awarded on a yearly basis to students with strong scholastic performance with evidence of commitment to life-long learning and who show promise for developing a future career in academia or research. The successful candidates will participate in an eight (8) to ten (10)-week mentored
research experience during summer under TSU faculty with active research projects. Activities
during this fellowship will include actual research, enrichment activities and field
work as prescribed by the faculty and approved by the Research Unit in the Provost’s
office. Successful applicants will be designated as Undergraduate Research Fellows (URFs). Interested faculty and students should obtain application forms from the Office of
Research, Hannah Hall, Room 230, download from the Office of Research web site,
or contact a Research Development Officer (hugheyal@tsu.edu or owerbachd@tsu.edu). The deadline for application is April. The 2012 program will run from June - Aug. Stipends of $2,000 or $2,500 (based
on availability of funds) will be awarded. |
