What types of jobs are available?
Texas Southern University hasExecutive/Administrative/Managerial, Professional Non-Faculty, Secretarial/Clerical, Technical /Paraprofessional/ Skilled Crafts and Service/Maintenance  positions performing a wide variety of job duties. The University offers acomprehensive benefit packageto full-time employees hired in authorized positions. Applications are accepted only for positions for which we are actively recruiting.

How do I find out what jobs are available and information about employment with Texas Southern University?

Visit our on-line sitewww.tsu.edu. To search for postings, click “ CareerCenter”, and then click on “ TSU Employment”. You have not reached the TSU Job Site. Click on the “ Search Postings” link at leftto search for jobs that are currently available. A list of available positions can be viewed in this mannerfrom any computer with Internet access. The available jobs are also posted on the first floor of Hannah Hall, outside the Human Resources Office.

If I am applying for a Faculty position, what procedure will I use?
Applicants for Faculty positions should follow the same procedures as identified above.    Faculty positions are posted on the same website.                                                                   

How does the application process work?

Applicants can complete their applications on-line from any computer with Internet access. After the closing date, all applications will be screened by one of the employment staff members. Those applicants who are to be interviewed normally will be contacted within three to four weeks (or longer, in some instances) after the closing date listed on the job list. You may check the status of your application after the closing date by visiting us on-line atwww.tsu.edu. After a final selection is made, the status of the application will change. 
 
All of my pertinent information is on my resume. Do I still have to submit an application?
Yes, an application is required to be submitted for each vacant position. The resume is considered only as a supplement to the application. The Human Resources Department does not accept a resume in place of an application, nor will we accept an application that indicates “See Resume” in section requesting job duties.
 

What are the advantages of using the on-line human resources employment site?
There are a number of advantages to using the new on-line site. Some of these include: 

  • The ability to save your application form on-line to use for future job openings;
  • The ability to update your on-line application with specific skills and experience related to the posting;
  • The ability to access and review the job requirements while completing the application;
  • The ability to submit your application immediately and directly to TSU, minimizing the risk of missing a job posting close deadline or loss of the application;
  • Job posting closing dates (deadline) have been extended to midnight --giving applicants extra time to apply;
  • The on-line application saves time when you want to apply for multiple jobs at one time and/or to apply for several positions throughout the year;
  • The ability to track the status of an application and the recruitment process;
  • The ability to learn about job openings, as well as, apply for positions at any time and from any computer in the world with access to the web.
 
What if I do not have a computer or access to the web?
Currently, there are computers available in the Human Resources office for your use.    Human Resources office hours are:
 
8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday thru Thursday
8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Friday 

Who will see my application when I use the on-line site?

Your application is on a secure web server and will be available to the Tiger Team (the Employment Division of the TSU Human Resources Department) and the hiring authority(s) for the specific job opening for which you apply. If the same position becomes available in a different department or with a different supervisor, your application may be reviewed for that opening by the responsible hiring authority. Texas Southern University does not share its database with other companies or universities.
