College of Continuing Education Announces New Certification Training Programs
In response to the increasing job market needs for mandatory certification and required training in the maritime, transportation, logistics and oil and gas/offshore industries, Texas Southern University’s College of Continuing Education has announced the launch of a new Certified Training Program.
Approved by the US Coast Guard and designed to create high performers and intensify corporate productivity, the eight advanced courses offer solutions in the areas of regulatory compliance, safety, security, occupational health, operations, technology, inspections and audits, marine/offshore operations, maintenance, liabilities, productivity, strategy, budget allocation, etc.
All classes will be held on the Texas Southern Campus in the Aviation building and require a minimum passing score of 70% on a written exam. Upon training and exams completion, participants will receive a US Coast Guard approved TSU Maritime Certificate of Training that will be valid for five years. A 30% discount is available for TSU students paying with their personal funds and free lunch and parking are provided to all participants for every training day.
Courses range from one to three days of instruction. Courses offered beginning in June include: Marine Environmental Awareness, Crisis Management and Human Behavior, Crowd Management and Passenger Safety, First Aid, CPR and AED, Tank Ship Familiarization and Dangerous Liquids, Ship Management, Hazardous Materials, Train the Trainer and Personal Safety/Social Responsibility.
