What is the Educational Opportunity Center?

Texas Southern University's Educational Opportunity Center (EOC) is a federally funded program established to help prospective students make plans regarding their future goals. This program is specifically for persons who are 19 years or older, first generation (parents do not have a bachelors degree), or those who may be low-income are primary candidates for the services offered by the Educational Opportunity Center. We seek to increase educational opportunities for adults by providing financial aid information, academic assistance and post-secondary referrals.

Our Purpose

The Educational Opportunity Center at Texas Southern University is committed to helping people begin or continue their education. The goal of the EOC program is to increase the number of adult participants who enroll in postsecondary education institutions.

We provide FREE educational, career, and college financial aid counseling to eligible adults who reside in Harris, Brazoria, Waller, Montgomery and Fort Bend counties to help them attend any school of their choice. If they are of modest income, first generation (parents or the guardians) did not graduate from a university, or 19 years or older they are eligible for this program.

We do not provide funding, however, we can help them apply for available funds (federal, state, and private) as well as provide referrals, and other resources to further their educational endeavors.

The Educational Opportunity Center at Texas Southern University is only one of 124 EOC programs throughout the United States.
