The Texas Southern University MyTSUWeb housing portal has a step-by-step application process.

In order to successfully complete the application and room/apartment selection process, students are encouraged to read and follow directions on each screen in the portal. Please keep in mind that the portal will only show you floor plans and housing options which you are eligible for (i.e. based on your student classification.

Obtain an admissions letter with full admittance to Texas Southern University (TSU). Your admission will be documented with an assigned TSU ID Number (ex. T00-X-X). Visit

All students who have an interest in living on campus must be registered for academic courses with the university. University provision mandate the requirement of 12 hours as an enrolled student.

Financial Aid:
The free application for federal student aid (FAFSA) must be completed at and requisite documentation submitted to the TSU Office of Student Financial Assistance. Financial aid must be awarded prior to the inclusion of financial aid in the analysis of the student’s ability to pay. Qualifying students must be enrolled in a minimum of 12 hours to receive the maximum eligibility in financial assistance.

Health Center/Immunization:
Students will not be able to apply for housing until their meningitis shot is submitted to the TSU Health Center. Immunization must be taken within 5 years and 10 days before moving in. Students can submit the record online at


Step I.
Obtain admission to Texas Southern University

Step II.
Visit; Click on “Campus Life,” then “Housing.” Please review the “Residential Communities Rates and Plans” page to view room type, rates and lease terms. 

Step III.
While online under the housing webpage, select “Residential Meal Plans” tab to view meal plan options and rates. Please note: All residential students must select a meal plan. Freshmen living on-campus housing are required to choose either the 14 or 19 meal plan option.

Step IV.
Click “How to Apply” to complete a Housing Application. 

Step V.
Within 72 hours of submitting your electronic housing application, you will receive a meal plan & housing contract. Please follow instructions within the correspondence email. 

Step VI.
All students are required to qualify for their total cost of Tuition, Fees, Room & Meal cost through Financial Aid or pay their Room costs in Nine (9) monthly installments.

Step VII.
Review & Acknowledge Your Residential Lease & Meal Plan Contact: After you’ve completed the application steps, you will receive an electronic lease detailing your residential property, lease terms, provisions and meal plan contract. You will log into the housing portal to acknowledge contract

Step VIII.
Receive your Confirmation Letter & Welcome Brochure via email and arrive to the University for Residential Check-in in accordance to the dates provided in your confirmation letter. 

Please note: If you do not check-in with 48 hours of the Residential Check-in period, you may lose room reservation and will have to be reassigned at the time of arrival.

Submission of Required Information.Please be sure to provide important documentation such as immunization record, physical exam and completed student health form to the TSU Health Center. The record can be submitted online at or faxed to 713.313.7817
