City of Canton adds TSU to Scholarship Program
Canton, Ohio mayor William Healy recently added TSU as the first HBCU to the City of Canton Scholarship Program to students that live in Canton and attend public school.
The cost of tuition for an out-of-state student at TSU is roughly $18,000 per year. For students that reside in Canton, TSU guarantees $11,000 per year, renewable for up to four years.
The cost of tuition for a student from Canton is about $7,000 per year. If a student is eligible to receive a Pell Grant the cost goes down to right around $1,000 per year. If you add on any additional scholarships or grants, that student could attend TSU and obtain a Bachelor’s degree at little to no cost to them or their families. This is a wonderful opportunity for students from Canton.
The City of Canton Scholarship Program began in 2009 as the Mayor’s Scholarship Program with five university partners. The program has continued to grow and with the addition of TSU there are now 14 colleges and universities across the country that guarantees scholarships for students from Canton.
