host second annual holiday celebration

Texas Southern University President and Mrs. Austin A. Lane hosted their second annual University-wide Holiday Celebration on December 7 in the Student Center cafeteria. President Lane’s executive cabinet greeted faculty and staff and thanked them for their service to the institution and its students.

TSU’s Jazz Ensemble provided live musical entertainment while attendees enjoyed a variety of confections and fellowship. TSU Student Regent Justin Lee and Student Government Association President Corbrin Burton represented the student body at the event.

Dr. Lane announced that as many as 6,000 students had already pre-registered for the spring 2018 semester. He thanked everyone for going the extra mile to serve TSU’s most valuable asset – its students.

“It’s important for an institution to be known for the services it provides,” Dr. Lane said. “Students come to me often and speak about how faculty and staff are working with them. Loren and I are thankful for the opportunity to lead such a great university with dedicated people. Enjoy your Winter break and spend time with your loved ones.”

“This year’s Holiday Celebration was a festive occasion for TSU faculty and staff to greet each other,” said Linda Wynn, senior administrative assistant in the school of Communication. “It was great to see my colleagues who work in other parts of the campus whom I hadn’t seen in a while.”
