What is the
Upward Bound Math/Science Regional Center?
Upward Bound Math/Science
Regional Center attempts to expose 54 - 10th, 11th, and 12th grade participants
from Region IV (Arkansas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, New Mexico and Texas) to a
scientifically challenging and culturally enriching six-week summer program
beginning in June of each year.
-
The program offers
a unique experience for students of the same age group to meet
others with similar math and science interests.
-
Participants will
be provided a course of study to develop scientific and mathematics
skills to support their completion of secondary programs and
ultimately to pursue science and mathematics careers.
-
The program will
offer individual counseling to assist with personal and academic
concerns.
-
Participants will
be selected from those nominated by Project Directors throughout
Region IV. Nominees must have an interest in math and science and
possess strong skills in those areas.
-
Located in the
city of Houston and a few miles North of NASA, the Texas Southern
University campus offers an ethnically diverse environment rich in
opportunities.
