OTHER SERVICES
COPY MACHINES
There are photocopiers available for service on the second floor, fifth floor and first floor in Special Collections. The copiers are operated by copy card only. A vending machine to obtain a copy card is located on the first floor.
FREE SCANNING SERVICE
Located in Special Collections, first floor, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. See Scanning Instructions (PDF)for more information. For questions or assistance, email Gary Chaffee, or call 713 313-7298.
STUDY AREAS
Quiet open study areas are available on the second through fifth floors and Special Collections, first floor.
STUDY CARRELS
Study carrels are available on a first come, first serve basis daily during library hours. They are located on second, third, fourth, and fifth floors.
LAPTOP COMPUTING
Wireless access is available throughout the library building.
LOCKERS
Students wishing to use a locker must register. Registration is in the Administrative Office, Suite 230 on the second floor of the library. A $5.00 fee, a combination lock and a current TigerOne card are required. Lockers are available on a semester basis only. Locks must be removed by the last day of the semester.
Doctoral Students at Candidate Level
Qualified students will be charged a $5.00 deposit per semester for use of study carrels. A key will be issued. Deposits will be paid in the Administrative office, second floor. Refunds will be given at the end of semester with one day notice for refund request. Keys must be returned and lost keys will have to be replaced. The cost of replacing key and/or lock core will be charged to the depositor.
Faculty (Semester assignment available)
Faculty rooms are available on the fifth floor only. Those can be reserved on a semester basis with renewals available. A $5.00 key deposit is required at the second floor Administrative Office.
Restrictions for Use
Glass on door is not to be covered. No food, drink or smoking allowed. Books are not to be left in study carrels. No marking on desks, walls, etc. Violation of the above Restrictions will not be tolerated.
Services for Persons with Disabilities
The following ADA equipment is located in Room 241:
The Reading Edge - a Kurzweil Reader The unique bookedge scanner allows books to be scanned without damaging binding or distorting text. It is designed to enable blind and visually impaired users to begin reading immediately.
Closed Circuit Television System (CCTV System) The system is designed to enlarge image for visually impaired users. Patrons can select viewing either positive (black on white) or reverse polarity (white on black).
