College of Liberal Arts & Behavioral Sciences
PROGRAMS
The College of Liberal Arts & Behavioral Sciences houses academic programs in liberal arts and behavioral sciences but it is also the home of the internationally recognized performing groups:
The faculty members of this unit have excelled as writers, historians, performing artists, literary artists, and research scholars in numerous areas, especially in African and African American Studies, in Women's Studies, and in Latin American Studies. Some have earned state and national recognition as distinguished authors and as recipients of the Quill Pen in creative writing.
College faculty members help students develop academically and professionally by sponsoring their participation in honor societies, professional associations, and community workshops, scholarly symposia, including the annual J. Marie McCleary Symposium, the Lambda Iota Tau, international honor society, and NuRoots, the Creative Writing Workshop which publishes its own journal. The Delta Alpha Chapter of Lambda Iota Tau, International Honor Society for Students of Literature, holds annual induction ceremonies. This society was the first national or international honor association established on TSU campus when it was chartered on July 16, 1971.
