Dr. Elizabeth Brown-Guillory

Executive Director of Back to Basics Summer Institute, Associate Provost

Dr. Elizabeth Brown-Guillory is Distinguished Professor of Theatre and Associate Provost/Associate Vice President for Academic and Faculty Affairs at Texas Southern University. She is a theatre scholar, playwright, and performing artist. Before joining the faculty of Texas Southern University, she was Professor of English at the University of Houston, where she was employed for twenty-one years and where she won the University’s Cooper Teaching Excellence Award, the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences Teaching Excellence Award, and (two-time winner of) the English Honor Society's Sigma Tau Delta Distinguished Professor Award. The UH Alumni Organization selected her in 2007 as one of four “ Phenomenal Professors"at the University of Houston. Dr. Brown-Guillory’s areas of expertise include dramatic literature, playwriting, African/Diaspora literatures, theatre history, women writers, and American ethnic literatures.





Dr. Bernnell Peltier-GlazePeltier-Glaze

Assistant Professor, Educational Administration and Foundations

Dr. Bernnell Peltier-Glaze is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Administration and Foundations at Texas Southern University. Her responsibilities include teaching administrator preparation courses and supervising administrative interns. She also serves on several department committees.

Dr. Peltier-Glaze has worked with families and children/students through both the social services and education systems in the states of Louisiana, Georgia, New York and most recently Houston, TX. In the K-12 system, she has served as a classroom teacher, mentor teacher, supervising teacher, administrative intern/assistant principal/administrator, principal, director and trainer. She has been responsible for professional development for teachers and principals. She is a certified teacher and administrator and also does educational consulting. Dr. Peltier-Glaze was honored as an “invitee” at theDavid L. Clark National Graduate Student Research Seminar in Educational Administration and Policy held in San Diego, CA in 2004 where she presented research from her dissertation, “Teachers’ Perceptions of the Role of the Principal Regarding Teacher Retention in an Urban School District.” She also presented research from her dissertation in a “Ticketed” session at the Association for Supervision and Curriculum (ASCD) Conference held in Orlando, Florida in 2005. Additionally she has presented at several local, state and national conferences. Her publications include “The Role of the Principal in Teacher Retention ” in Texas Study of Secondary Education.





Ms. Sameera Rizvi

Interim Director of Instructional Technology, Jesse H. Jones School of Business, Texas Southern University

Sameera Rizvi is the Interim Director of Instructional Technology at the Jesse H. Jones School of Business at Texas Southern University. She has been extensively involved in the eLearning field for eight years, including integrating the student information system with the course management system on campus. Being an integral part of the eLearning environment at TSU from the beginning has enabled her to gain valuable insights into the different aspects of running a successful eLearning program. Sameera also holds a Master's degree in Business Administration from Texas Southern University.





Mr. Kenyon L. Coleman Kenyon

Teaching Faculty

Kenyon L. Coleman received his Bachelor of Science degree from City University in Bellevue, WA, in 2002.  He then matriculated to Howard University School of Law and obtained his Juris Doctorate degree, in 2005. Mr. Coleman is currently a graduate student in Texas Southern University's Masters of Science in Mathematics program with plans to pursue a PhD in Mathematics.





Ms. Camesha Scruggs Camesha

Teaching Faculty

Camesha Scruggs is a recent graduate of Texas Southern University where she received her MA in History. She is currently serving as an assistant in the Quality Enhancement Plan department on campus. As a self proclaimed “word nerd”, she is always on,, and doing word search puzzles or trying to read a good book on her tablet.
