CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS

Deadline for Submission September 14, 2007

Increasingly, institutions of higher education are concerned with the integration of computers and technology into the learning environment.  Many administrators and faculty recognize the prospects that technology holds for the future, but are challenged in its effective implementation.  “Teaching in the 21st Century:  Technology and Beyond” is this year’s conference theme.   The 15th Annual Southwestern Business Administration Teaching Conference offers a peer-reviewed venue for sharing practical, as well as, theoretical applications for technology in the classroom, laboratory, online, face-to-face, distance learning and other learning environments.  This conference represents a unique opportunity for the cross pollination of ideas by bringing together faculty, administrators, students and practitioners from the various business, education and social science disciplines.  Learning-oriented submissions are encouraged.  Manuscripts with a theoretical focus on teaching and learning are also desired.  While the business discipline involved (accounting, finance, management, MIS, marketing, etc.) may be the context for a particular submission, the primary focus should be on the learning technique/practice.  It is hoped that many of the submissions will be of cross-disciplinary interest.

ABOUT SWBATC

The Southwest Business Administration Teaching Conference (SWBATC) is an annual conference sponsored by the Texas Southern University Jesse H. Jones School of Business and the Organizational Behavior Teaching Society – a national organization of management educators.  The purpose of the conference is to provide a forum for exchanging ideas, identifying emerging trends and examining relevant issues that support and enhance student learning.

 WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Anyone interested in the following teaching areas should attend:  Accounting, Business Communication, Business Education, Business Law, Business Ethics, Business Statistics,
Economics, Finance, Insurance, Management, Management Information Systems, Management Science, Marketing, Real Estate, or other disciplines in Business Administration.  Faculty from related disciplines – Education, Psychology, Public Administration, Social Work, Sociology and Technology – can also benefit from the conference, since many of the sessions focus on pedagogy rather than academic content.  The conference welcomes participation of doctoral candidates as session presenters, reviewers or attendees.

CONFERENCE FORMAT

The conference format consists of lively, interactive workshop-like sessions, with lots of sharing of ideas and experiences.  Traditionally, the program consists of 40-minute concurrent sessions without the presentation of formal papers.  However, this year a limited number of formal research presentations at various stages of development are encouraged.

Additionally, participants will be eligible for eight (8) hours of continuing professional education (CPE).
