Professional Biography
Dr. Viveca Grant is an Associate Professor and Director of Certification at Texas Southern University. She coordinates TExES sessions and is a content specialist who helps improve the teacher certification process in Higher Education. She has done extensive research on the best predictors of successful performance on State Teacher Certification Exams. The title of her Dissertation is: An Analysis of Grade Point Averages, TASP Scores, and Practice Test Scores as Predictors of Performance on State Certification Examinations. She interned as a Doctoral Fellowship recipient in the Teacher Certification Office at Texas Southern University. She is results driven by being able to increase and improve TExES scores ranging from 25% to as much as 90%-100% in a short period of time.
She supports mentors and supervises numerous students seeking various certifications in education. During her 30+ years in education, she has gained experience in public schools as a teacher and supervisor. Dr. Grant also, has experience in Higher Education including public and private universities as an instructor, Visiting Professor and Principal Coordinator. She has conducted best practices workshops at the state and national levels including curriculum alignment, professional development and classroom management. Dr. Grant has studied educational practices abroad in the Bahamas and Mexico City. The studies were conducted in Higher Education Institutions, private schools and public schools. In addition, Dr. Grant has experience working side-by-side with teachers and teacher candidates to help them develop classroom lessons and performance assessments by including best teaching practices. She has worked as a Department Chair in public schools and coordinated an Alternative Center for students who encountered behavioral problems in the traditional classroom setting.
