John Williams

Serving Texas Southern University and the Jesse H. Jones School of Business since 1972, Dr.  John Williams has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to Texas Southern University and its students. His passion to prepare students for academic and career success has been the key to his long-term dedication.

Dr. Williams’ teaching and research interests are in the areas of Marketing Research, Entrepreneurial Marketing, and Strategic Marketing. He also has teaching experience in the areas of Marketing Channels, Marketing Communications and Strategic Management. He has published articles on consumer decision making, small business development, entrepreneurship, student retention, and the impact of environmental regulations on small businesses. His honors and awards include Outstanding Faculty Member of the Decade, 1995-2005.

Dr. Williams has served in a variety of leadership positions in the School in which he was responsible for community outreach, business student services and the accreditation for the Business School.

Williams holds a Ph.D. in Marketing and Risk Management from the University of Texas at Austin, the Master of Business Administration, also from the University at Texas at Austin, and a B.S. in Chemistry and Mathematics from Prairie View A&M University.
