Gerald W. Womack

Gerald W. Womack is President/CEO, Womack Development & Investment (WDI), a full-service commercial and residential real estate brokerage firm. The firm was formed in 1985, after a previous partnership with Womack & Harrell Real Estate Company. For the past 28 years, its corporate office is located at 4412 Almeda Road, Houston, Texas—conveniently within "Third Ward," near the Mid-Town/Museum District, and the Houston Medical Center—all minutes from downtown Houston.

Gerald Womack is a native Houstonian; and attended the Jesse H. Jones School of Business, Texas Southern University. Gerald has a long history of entrepreneurship in real estate development, sales, leasing and construction. His stellar career began when he was only 16; after filing for his age to be waivered, thus establishing him as an "adult," in the State of Texas. He has been in business over 40 years. In 1978, at the age of 21, he ran for the Texas State Legislature. In 2002, he ran for City Council. Since that time, he has been actively involved within the political spectrum of the community by serving on the transition teams for both U. S. Representative Sheila Jackson Lee and former Mayor Lee P. Brown. He has worked in many local political campaigns and serves as Campaign Manager for Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee.

Currently, Mr. Womack serves as president of the Houston Black Real Estate Association (HBREA). Under Gerald's leadership, since January 2013, HBREA has accomplished great strides toward elevating its presence and impacting the community. The organization is flourishing and expanding its influence in the Houston and surrounding areas. HBREA is also creating and sustaining partnerships with local banks, mortgage and title companies, the Houston Black Ministers Alliance, and the Texas Southern University, Jesse H. Jones School of Business, by providing the community with educational opportunities through community workshops and classroom course work for future real estate agents and brokers. In August 2013, as a result of Gerald's outstanding guidance, he received, at the 66th National Association of Real Estate Broker's Convention, the 2013 Local Board President's Award.

He is also known for spearheading the redevelopment of the 4400 block of Almeda and Wheeler into new retail shops, medical offices, and professional office space.
