Counselor Education ED 224 College of Education Phone: 713-313-7806 Email:venable_rh@tsu.edu, rhvea@aol.com Primary Research Focus Substance Abuse Professional Biography As a frequent consultant for the Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and the Department of Education, Office of Safe & Drug Free Schools (OSDFS), Dr. Venable has acted as a trainer, grant reviewer, program evaluator, editor and author for both agencies. He has had several grants funded in this area. He has written over 15 professional articles and book chapters, primarily in Counseling, and has been published in the areas of Human Sexuality and Human Performance as well. He currently serves on the editorial board of two professional journals. He has presented 60 juried papers at regional, national, and international research conferences.
