Online Graduate Program

 
Program Overview
The College of Education at Texas Southern University will offer programs leading to the M. Ed degree in Educational Administration and Counseling beginning the fall semester of 2012.
 
These programs will include:
  • Master of Education Degree in Educational Administration with principal certificate (42 hrs.)
  • Master of Education degree in Educational Administration (no certificate) (36 hrs.)
  • Principal Certificate in Educational Administration (30 hrs.)
  • Master of Education Degree in Counseling (48-54 hrs.)
Online Program M.Ed.Classes for the Master’s Degree in Educational Administration and related certificate programs will include a concentration of study in school administration, instructional leadership, school law, fiscal responsibility, the organization and management of schools and internships. The programs are designed to prepare candidates for positions of leadership in varied educational settings. Current issues and trends that are appropriate for twenty-first century leaders will also be an inclusive part of the program. Courses will be offered on a rotational basis.
 
The Master’s Degree Program and Principal Certification program are nationally recognized by the Educational Leadership Constituency Council and are accredited through the Texas State Board of Educator Certification.
 
Classes for the Master’s Degree in Counseling will include a concentration of study in school, agency and rehabilitation counseling. The program is designed to prepare candidates to serve as advocates, counselors and consultants to increase the options of clients they serve, to serve as managers of resources, partnership builders, and to assist clients in accomplishing their goals and in coping with societal demands in varied settings.
 
All candidates will be appointed an academic advisor to assist in the development of a degree plan. Continued consultation and advisement will insure successful completion of the program.
 
All College of Education programs will focus on the use of online learning to build the capacity of students and will provide a quality educational or certificate program to individuals seeking either a Master’s Degree or certification in their respective area. These programs will allow participants to pursue their degree, certification and/or licensure through a rigorous program of standards-based technology and enhanced online courses that are currently being offered only in the traditional classroom setting. All curriculum materials created will be in alignment with state and national standards.
