
JHJ SCHOOL OF BUSINESS STUDENTS RECOGNIZED WITH NINE MARKETING AWARDS HOUSTON, TEXAS - March 25, 2013. The Collegiate Chapter of the American Marketing Association at the Jesse H. Jones School of Business was acknowledged at the Association’s 35th Annual International Collegiate Conference held in New Orleans, Louisiana from March 20 – 24th for their excellence in eight different categories winning nine awards. Themed, “Live the Marketing Life”; the Collegiate Conference inspires students and gives them the tools needed to start careers as young marketing professionals. Keynote speakers included former Kodak CEO, Jeffrey Hayzlett and branding and social media expert, Nate Riggs, of the Karcher Group.
Texas Southern University was well represented by the JHJ School with sixteen students prepared to participate in various marketing competitions, career-building workshops, and attended a career fair with several Fortune 500 Companies. This is one of the best investments you can make as an aspiring marketer. The Collegiate Conference is particularly helpful as students set out into a world where the career landscape is shifting dramatically, and new tools for marketing are changing the way marketers do business.
Over 1200 students were in attendance at the 35th Annual International Collegiate Conference including two other HBCU’s. Texas Southern had the largest minority group of students present. Led by Dr. Delonia Cooley, Associate Professor of Marketing and Faculty Advisor, American Marketing Association, the JHJ School team included: Ashanti Morse, Alisha White, Oreatha Rogers, Maurice Mouton, Samuel Joseph, Ryian Nichols, JoWauna Everett, James Nick Darby, Fallon Broussard, Shalee Dorsey, Kendria Hudson, De'La Spears, LaTonia Allen, Tamara Brewer, Keon Vines and Simone Ball. The team garnered the following awards and acknowledgements:
