Education is a Civil Right, Saving the African American Student by Dr. George McKenna

Dr. McKenna addressed the College of Education on the nationwide initiative, "Education is a Civil Right." His comments targeted the concerns of members within the Higher Education community on practices, policies, and programs that can increase successful outcomes for African American students in K-12 public schools.

Empowerment of Learners of African Descent Research Award 

Dr. Danita M. Bailey-Perry, Department of  Education Administration & Foundations, is the 2009 recipient of the Texas Alliance of Black School Educator’s Empowerment of Learners of African Descent Research Award.  She received the awardin recognition of her peer-reviewed research paper titled Minority Women and the Glass Ceiling.  Her research paper waspresented at the Texas Alliance of Black School Educators’ 24th Annual Conference in Houston, Texas on 14 March 2009.
