 Our Mission:

The Robert J. Terry Library (RJTL) empowers scholars by providing access to robust collections, qualified staff and innovative work spaces that advance teaching and learning and stimulate scholarship, community engagement, intellectual inquiry and civic discourse. Revised Fall, 2016

Library At-A-Glance:

The library collection consists of over 261,506 printed books and media titles, along with 1,774 print periodicals and over 250 electronic databases providing TSU students and staff with remote access to thousands of additional subscription journal titles and ebooks. The library provides an information literacy program, bibliographic instruction, virtual reference (Ask a Librarian), reserves, and interlibrary loan.

Closed study rooms and individual study carrels are provided on most floors. With the exception of Special Collections, the library maintains open stacks. Wireless access is available throughout the building. A computer lab is available on the 3rd floor. Students can print up to 40 pages without charge. Copy machines are available on the second floor.

The Robert James Terry Library provides seven major public service areas: Reference, Circulation/Reserve, and Special Collections on the first floor; the Serials Department on the second floor; the Learning Resources Center on the third floor; and the Business and Economics Library on the fifth floor.

The library was named for Dr. Robert James Terry, Interim President of the Texas Southern University from 1986-1987.
