Research Laboratories - Meterology Lab

Recently, the Airway Science Programs have added to their facilities a state-of-the-art flight meteorology lab, which was built with Air Routing’s assistance.

With its new lab, TSU’s Airway Science Program can now offer a more comprehensive education in aviation weather, and alumni will come away with even more technical know-how for their careers in the aviation world.

Six complete weather stations fill the room with dual flat-panel monitors, Pentium computers and color printers. Students access a customized Web site, created by Air Routing programmers, to view real-time aviation weather charts and reports, satellite and radar images.

Examples of weather information accessible from the Airway Science Metlab include:

• Forecasts(textual and graphical)

• Statements

• Current Weather Observation

• Site Specific and Composite Static as well as Loop Radar Observations

• Infrared Satellite images and loops of the Eastern and Western Americas, Europe and Africa, Australia and the Middle East, Asia and China, etc.

• Web Cams feed live audio from FAA air traffic controllers
