Scholarships & Fellowships


The Center for Transportation Training and Research (CTTR) is an innovative research component of Texas Southern University and provides graduate level management and research training in support of the Transportation Studies Program. The CTTR provides scholarships each semester for qualified students in transportation. The scholarships will cover tuition and a portion of the recipient’s living expenses.

The requirements are as follows:

  1. Must be an applicant to the Masters Program in Transportation Studies,
  2. Must have a grade point average of 3.0 or higher in the last two years of study,
  3. Submit statement of professional or scholastic objective (max - one page), and
  4. Submit three scholastic or professional letters of reference

The Eisenhower fellowships are open to applicants who are U. S. Citizens or who are in the process of becoming U. S. Citizens, and are intended for:

  1. Juniors - who wish to obtain funding for their senior year towards a Bachelors of Science in Airway Science and who plan to enter the transportation profession after completing their higher level education.
  2. Seniors - who wish to obtain funding for graduate level study in the Transportation Planning and Management program and who plan to enter the transportation profession after completing their higher level education.
  3. Graduate Students - (Masters or Ph.D. degree) who plan to enter the transportation profession after completing their higher level education.

All tuition and fees for the selected candidates will be covered by the fellowship. Fellowship recipients will receive monthly stipends to be calculated as follows:

  1. Senior-Level Fellows ----- $1,200 per month for 12 months
  2. Masters-Level Fellows ----- $1,400 per month for 12 months

Additionally, recipients will be allowed a one-time expenditure (up to $1,000) for travel to Washington, D. C. to attend the annual Transportation Research Board (TRB) meeting.

The Naomi W. Lede' Institute for Innovation and Scholarship encourages scholastic excellence and innovation by providing scholarships for qualified students in the transportation fields. The objectives of the Dr. Naomi W. Lede' Institute for Innovation and Scholarship are to prepare a highly qualified cadre of professionals with the ability to think critically and tackle existing and emerging issues in transportation. The Naomi W. Lede' Institute was established for the purpose of inspiring and cultivating a continued spirit of motivation and excellence in achievement.

Scholarships are intended for students who are presently enrolled in or are applicants to the Master's level program or the undergraduate Airway Science program at Texas Southern University.

International Transportation Management Association (ITMA) announces the Fall 2000 semester scholarships offered to students pursing a career in logistics. Criteria include 1) university undergraduate or graduate student; 2) majoring in a logistics-related discipline such as transportation, distribution, material handling; or 3) majoring in business or marketing with an emphasis on logistics. Your application should include the following

  1. Your letter of application (there is no application form);
  2. Original transcript;
  3. Resume listing career objectives and any related work experience; and
  4. Letter(s) of recommendation from professors, logistics professionals, etc..
