The Texas Southern Lady Tigers outlasted the Southern Jaguars to claim the 2006 SWAC Women’s Bowling Championship.  The Lady Tigers won all three phases of the match and finished with a 5257 – 5110 victory.

In singles competition, Lindsey Wright bowled a 639 series while Brittany Gailor had a 634 series as the Lady Tigers captured singles 3019 – 2965.  Southern also performed well in the singles event as Cassandra Shivers bowled a 632 while Erin Williams added a 627.

In doubles action, the duo of Tramelle Thomas and Cieara Watts combined for a 1212 series but were bested by teammates Lindsey Wright and Viola King, who bowled a 1236 series.  For Southern, Cassandra Shivers and Erin Williams combined for an 1181 series.  Down by over 100 pins entering the final event, the Jaguars refused to go away quietly.  In baker, Southern started off with two good games and in game three bowled a 235 while Texas Southern managed a 194.  However, the Lady Tigers regained the momentum with a 209 and 247 in the final baker games to clinch the tournament title.

Southern’s Erin Williams was named Most Valuable Player of the tournament with a 12-game average of 221.75 with a high game of 268 and a high series of 772.
