A Commitment to Excellence

For more than 85 years Texas Southern University has displayed superiority in nurturing and developing the best professional men and women around the globe. TSU now boasts excellence in its marching band- "The Ocean of Soul".

 

 

 

Horn Elementary hosted members of the Texas Southern University’s “Ocean of Soul” Marching Band to culminate the musical unit on orchestra instruments. During Instrument Visitor Day, Horn students were treated to a brief discourse about each instrument and were given a live demonstration of the various instruments. Several students also had the opportunity to play the instruments.
     The Texas Southern University (TSU) students also discussed their fields of study, and how music has influenced their lives. The Ocean of Soul, under the gracious direction of Richard Lee, Texas Southern University's Director of Bands, generously shared members of their award-winning band with the campus. The musicians included Travis Dumas, Miguel Garcia, Troy Reed, Chase Lee, Brian Jackson, Julius Williams, Alvin Hutton, Rashad Boyd, Charles Thomas, Evan Fontenot, Kedrick Harrison, Joe Dorsey, Darius Davis, Charles Arline, Tyreke Cooper and Charles Winbush.
