DUNCANVILLE—The Duncanville Independent School District (DISD) has named Dr. Marc Smith as the school district’s new superintendent. Dr. Smith earned his bachelor’s degree in Human Performance from Texas Southern University.
According to Lari Barager, Director of External Communications for the Duncanville Independent School District Dr. Smith’s official first day on the job will be Monday, April 4, 2016. Prior to this appointment, Dr. Smith was the superintendent in Marshall Independent School District since March 2012.
With Dr. Smith leading Marshall ISD the district achieved a "Met Standard” accountability rating the past two years from the Texas Education Agency (TEA). In May 2015, Dr. Smith led Marshall ISD through a successful $109.210 million bond election project, the first successful bond election for the school district in nearly 30 years.
