TSU Music Students Victorious in Singing Competition

On Saturday, March 23, 2019, seven TSU voice majors competed in the annual Greater Houston Area National Association of Teachers of Singing (GHNATS) competition held at the University of Houston. Out of these seven students, two students received honors in the final round.
Andrew Harrison (student of
Dr. Gwendolyn Alfred), sophomore music education major, won 2
nd place, outscoring six singers in his category.
Leon Green (student of
Dr. Jason Oby), freshman music education major, won 3
rd place, outscoring seven singers in his category. Two semifinalists were freshman music education major,
J’Neise Hodge and sophomore music education major,
Kimberly Benitez, both students of Dr. Gwendolyn Alfred. Other competitors included Kaylin Forge and Enrique Solis. All students were accompanied by
Dr. Lucian Zidaru on piano. We are TSU proud of these talented students!
