KTSU 90.9 FM partnered with community activist Janice Weaver and Michael Crockett of Crockett and Sons Enterprises to produce the “Seventh Year Anniversary Blood Drive: SURVIVING – THRIVING & MOBILIZING.” Attendees gave blood on site in the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center mobile bus stationed at Texas Southern University. The event sponsors also hosted a First Responders Recognition Ceremony where Mayor Sylvester Turner, Houston Fire Department Medical Director Dr. David Persse, Houston Police Department Executive Assistant Chief Troy Finner and Houston Fire Department Fire Chief Samuel Pena were honored.

“It was wonderful to host this event to help those in need during this holiday season by giving the gift of life through blood donation,” said KTSU 90.9 FM General Manager Ernest Walker. “This is a great way to celebrate our first responders, all individuals who have given or received blood, as well as educate and serve the community.”
