Administration of Justice A Bachelor of Science in Administration of Justice is offered through the Barbara Jordan-Mickey Leland School of Public Affairs at Texas Southern University. The mission of the program is to educate students for careers and community service within a diverse urban environment through the development of specialized knowledge and skills needed for effective public service. The curriculum presents subjects designed to develop competence for employment and leadership roles for students planning careers in the judiciary, law enforcement, parole and probation, corrections, institutional services, security administration, homeland security, and other related career areas.
Aviation Science and Technology TSU's Department of Aviation Science and Technology offers a Bachelor of Science Degree in Aviation Science Management, providing opportunities for stable employment and advancement to undergraduate students seeking a bright future. The regimen of courses required by the Aviation Science Management curriculum also provides students with the necessary academic foundation for pursuing graduate work. In addition to general studies requirements, the Aviation Science Management curriculum contains courses that provide each student with strong conceptual foundations in mathematics, natural sciences, computer sciences, management and aviation - all oriented to the technology of this field. The program has been accredited by the National Association of Industrial Technology (NAIT).
Computer Engineering Technology & Electronic Engineering Technology The mission of the Department of Engineering Technology is to provide an overall high
quality, applications-oriented curriculum in the engineering technologies. This curriculum
is designed to prepare students for careers as engineering technologists who have
the ability to understand new
Environmental Health The Environmental Health Program is offered through the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences at Texas Southern University. The program provides graduates with the technical and administrative skills to function in industry, governmental agencies, consulting firms, and academia. Graduates are qualified to enter the workforce in air and water quality control, solid and hazardous waste management, occupational health and industrial hygiene, environmental toxicology and risk assessment, epidemiology, and disease surveillance. Currently, the TSU environmental health program is the only national Environmental Health Science and Protection Accreditation Council (EHAC) accredited program in Texas.
Human Services and Consumer Science The area of Child and Family Development focuses on growth throughout the life span as well as family dynamics and the impact thereof on individual family members. This exciting program prepares individuals for entrepreneurial and other professional careers in agencies, institutions, and programs that focus on services for children, youth, adults and families. Some career options include: family and community extension agents; case workers; parent educators; family-child educators; recreation workers/play therapists (with extended practicum hours in a certified program); civil servants in family service units of police departments; early childhood professionals in private, parochial, and public schools (with certification); and owners/directors of schools for young children. Students pursuing the Child and Family Development option must complete 120 semester hours.
Management Information Systems The undergraduate Management Information Systems (MIS) program within TSU's Jesse H. Jones School of Business generates future information systems professionals and managers. Graduates of the program possess an understanding of the different business functions of accounting, finance, management, and marketing, as well as the technical expertise to manage the development and use of information systems to support these business functions. The program also trains students to assume leadership positions to meet the challenges of the rapidly changing information technology and to incorporate effectively this technology into business intelligence.
Radio, Television and Film The Department of Radio, Television and Film offers Bachelor of Arts degrees in Mass
Communications. The primary mission of the School of Communication at Texas Southern
University The program focuses on five main competency skills: 1) Speaking, Writing, and Critical Thinking; 2) Overall Communication Systems; 3) Technological Tools; 4) Research and Analysis; 5) Theory, Performance and Production.
Sports Management The Bachelor of Science degree in Sports Management may be attained in four semesters after an approved associates degree. To earn this degree, successful completion of a minimum of 120 credits hours is required, containing 47 core hours, 18 hours Human Performance core, 27 hours Sport Management and 28 hours of a specialty (a concentration requires a minimum of 21 hours). Students pursuing the Sport Management degree with a concentration in Radio, Television and Film will select a specialty which can prepare them for careers such as: Sports Broadcasting, Sports Anchoring, Sports Programming, Sports Marketing, Sports Writing, Sports Promotions, and Public Relations.
