Background for Award

Mrs. Flora J. Robinson-Ware was a promoter of education in the lives of children and young adults. Her generosity, compassion and helpfulness is a testament to this award being named in her honor. In recognition of her passion for mentoring and an advocate for education--- this award is being dedicated to Mrs. Flora J. Robinson-Ware on behalf of her Family.

The Flora J. Robinson-Ware Memorial Writing Award will reward a student’s achievement and ability in writing. The MTM Tiger Writing Lab principles embodies the qualities that would honor her in a way she would approve.
 

Submission Guidelines

The Flora J. Robinson-Ware Memorial Award in Writing will offer award the best essay(s) written during the Fall 2017/ Spring 2018 semester. Therefore, the deadline for the Fall 2017 essay submission is
 
November 17, 2017 @ 5:00 p.m.
 
Part I and Part II of the submission process must be submitted for consideration by the deadline above.
  1. The essay must have been written for one of the following TSU English courses: English 130, English 131, and English 132.
  2. The essay must be in response to an assignment given by the instructor of the course in the Fall Semester of 2017. Please attach the essay prompt with the paper. Verification will be done.
  3. Students may submit only one essay per course for consideration for the award.
  4. The essay must be typed in MLA formatting guidelines (i.e. proper heading, one-inch margins, 12 font, times new roman, double-spaced)
  5. Essays not meeting one or more of the submission guidelines or submitted past the appropriate deadline will not be considered for the award.
  6. Essay must be original and will undergo a SafeAssignment check for authenticity of originality. Plagiarism is automatic disqualification.
 
 
 

Award Information

Judges will evaluate all essays submitted and will recognize the award-winning, Fall 2017 student submissions during the 1st Fall Writing Lab Ceremony. Winners will be notified through email and receive an invitation to the ceremony.

  • 3rd place $25.00
