TSU Alumnus Donates $1 Million to Alma Mater

Dr. Kase Lawal and his wife Eileen are to be commended for their continued support of Texas Southern University. As TSU’s President, Dr. John Rudley, stated, “one of the proudest moments in the life of any university is when one of its graduates, not only achieve success, but when that alumnus, shares his success with others.” This donation symbolizes a renewed commitment to this institution and a call to others to join in this renewed vision.

This donation is the largest from an alumnus in the history of the university. These funds, pledged over a 10-year period, will establish the Kase and Eileen Lawal Center for Global Trade through an endowment which will attract renowned faculty and provide endowed scholarships to attract talented students.

“This gift establishes the Lawal Center for Global Trade (LCGT) in Texas Southern’s Jesse H. Jones School of Business providing scholarships for students in international business and programming to support both the academic and business communities. This proud moment occurred because Dr. Lawal and his family are committed to the mission of Texas Southern University and to giving back to Houston and to the international community through education,” according to Dr. Rudley.

The Lawal Center for Global Trade will provide a national resource center dedicated to promoting innovation and entrepreneurial excellence in global trade. This Center will also offer comprehensive preparation of students and business executives for globally recognized leadership, and equip faculty for pre-eminence in international trade. The LCGT will facilitate and train students, business executives and entrepreneurs in developing innovative initiatives in global trade, and provide essential resources needed for development, implementation and collaboration with international affiliates.
