The Thurgood Marshall School of Law will host An Open House Reception and Tour
on Friday, February 4, 2005, at 1:00 p.m. in the School’s Moot Court Room.
This event will provide an opportunity for the School of Law constituents, including
its alumni, to view the renovated facility.
In August 2002, the School of Law moved from its permanent facility to a temporary
facility near KTSU. In September 2004, the School of Law faculty, staff and
students returned to a state-of-the-art renovated building. The building capabilities
include: 1,500 data ports for student use; wired seating for data and power
access in classrooms and library ; addition of two new computer labs in the
Law Library; study rooms in the Law Library; a media center; two classrooms
with distance learning capabilities; classrooms equipped with video recording
capability; digital projectors, screens and microphones in classrooms; the addition
of a legal clinic; interview rooms; 10 classrooms (old facility had seven classrooms);
total classroom seating is 688; addition of a research room for Career Services;
snack bar/cafeteria; outdoor reading court with canopies; terrazzo floor in
lobby; designated space for student organizations; security cameras and card
access entrances; acoustical panels in all classrooms; installation of French
drains to prevent flooding in basement; modernized moot court room; and an interactive
message board.
