Undergraduate Student Awards – Undergraduate students who participated in the annual summer research internship of the Center for Cardiovascular Diseases have gone on to compete at national biomedical research forums. The names of winners, the positions, and specific meetings attended are as follows:

1.                   Cory James (a 2000/2001 intern), 3rd place winner at the 15th Annual Biomedical Forum of Minority Institutions in Birmingham, Alabama

2.                   Gerald Lindsey (a 2001 intern), 1st place winner at the 16th Annual Symposium on Career Opportunities in Biomedical Sciences of the Association of Minority Health Professions Schools (AMPHS) in Norfolk, Virginia.

3.                   Preston Aycox (a 2001 intern), 2nd  place winner at the 16th Annual Symposium on Career Opportunities in Biomedical Sciences of the AMPHS in Norfolk, Virginia.

4.                   Lucy Mutembei, (a 2002 intern), 3rd place winner at the 17th Annual Symposium on Career Opportunities in Biomedical Sciences of the AMPHS in Nashville, TN-

5.                   Adrian Rusell (a 2003 intern), 3rd place winner at the 18th Annual Symposium on Career Opportunities in Biomedical Sciences of the AMPHS in Atlanta, GA.
