The College of Science and Technology is divided into 8 departments.

The Department of Biology -The mission of the Department of Biology is to allow students to be better informed about biological phenomena and processes as well as application of information and knowledge gained toward an improved understanding of main, society, and the universe. The Department is charged with providing undergraduate students the appropriate background to pursue medical, biomedical, and other related careers. Preparation for advanced degrees and research programs are also stressed.

Degrees offered:*B.S. (Bachelor of Science) *M.S. (Master of Science) ...more

The Department of Chemistry - The Department of Chemistry at Texas Southern University seeks to fulfill two primary missions. They are charged to prepare students for professional careers in chemistry and eventually, graduate study. The Department also is organized to give students, who are majoring in related fields, an understanding of fundamental techniques that will permit them to be successful in their chosen major. Each track is a composite program of study, and neither requires the declaration of an official minor in another academic discipline.

Degrees offered:*B.S. (Bachelor of Science) *M.S. (Master of Science)  *Ph. D (Doctor of Philosophy) ...more

The Department of Computer Science - The Department of Computer Science was created for those who wish to gain a deeper understanding of computing and its applications. This program provides a solid foundation for applying computing principles in a wide variety of careers.

Degrees offered:*B.S. (Bachelor of Science) *M.S. (Master of Science) ...more

The Department of Engineering Technologies - Each of our degree programs provide a broad skill set that allows students to pursue long term progression in related career areas. Although students may choose one of the three programs that we offer, they are not required to declare a minor in another area. For each program, a common core of courses is drawn from many instructional units in the University. In addition, prior to graduation, all students must pass an exit examination during their senior year.

Degrees offered: *B.S. (Bachelor of Science) ...more

The Department of Industrial Technologies - Those trained as industrial technologists are involved in many areas of the industry. Their participation allows them to solve technological problems in the computer-aided drafting industry and engineering area. Students are able to bridge the gap between the theoretical engineer and production level personnel. This makes them viable players in the industry.

Degrees offered: *B.S. (Bachelor of Science) *M.S. (Master of Science)  ...more

The Department of Mathematics - The Department of Mathematics, one of the largest instructional units in the University, provides major support to the overall undergraduate curriculum at Texas Southern University since every undergraduate degree or program of study includes mathematics. The curriculum includes academic preparation in the areas of problem solving, computing, and other activities that depend on an understanding of mathematical processes. Requirements include components in mathematics, physical science, and management. Preparation for advanced degrees and research programs are also stressed.

Degrees offered:*B.S. (Bachelor of Science) *M.S. (Master of Science)  ...more

The Department of Physics - The Department of Physics aims to provide a broad understanding and background in fundamental physics. This is established through basic and advanced course work, research, and hands-on training. The Department also provides opportunities for students who would like to explore research. The working mission is to make students aware of the natural laws that govern our universe.

Degrees offred: *B.S. (Bachelor of Science) ...more

The Department of Transportation Studies - Texas Southern University is one of only a few institutions of higher education approved by the Federal Aviation Administration to prepare technically trained people for aviation careers. The curriculum includes academic preparation for careers in aviation management, air traffic control, flight operations, and aviation information systems management. Requirements include components in mathematics, physical science, management and computer science. Preparation for advanced degrees and research programs are also stressed.

Degrees offered:*B.S. (Bachelor of Science) *M.S. (Master of Science)  ...more
