BRINGING BACK THE YARD (BBTY) INITIATIVE OVERVIEW
Alumni Relations through its Alumni & Friends Program can do its part to assist the University in its quest for “Excellence in Achievement” through the BRINGING BACK THE YARD (BBTY) Initiative. For those of you who know and love this University you know “The Yard” is not just a place. It is not just the section of trees, benches, and cement located in front of the Student Center. It’s a state of mind. It’s the desire to positively represent TSU, not just on campus, but out in the real world. It’s the drive and desire to make the university experience a wonderful time for every student, alumni, faculty, staff and friends of TSU. It’s having the determination to not only excel academically, but professionally and socially. It’s having the creativity and ingenuity to make every event, activity, or program the best the university has ever held. It’s seeing the valuable resource and potential all around us. It is taking pride in the institution and name of Texas Southern University. This is what we need to get back to.
This initiative will address several key areas which are vital to rebuilding the University’s image, reputation, and longevity.
The Office of Alumni Relations along with Alumni and Friends will work this year to bring back the yard through four program components:
(1) Fiscal/Funding
(2) Membership Programs
(3) Campus & Community Efforts and
(4) Communication.
These components work together to create the B.B.T.Y. Alumni & Friends Initiative. The goal of the BBTY initiative is not only to create programs and events that generate revenue for the University, but also to educate alumni and other supporters of the need and importance of giving back to the University through the donation of time, participation and financial resources.
