CORE VALUES
I do voluntarily agree to observe the following rules of conduct:

  1. To respect, support and comply with the mission, goals, and objectives of the university.
  2. To respect, support and comply with the Memorandum of Understanding between the National Alumni Association and its chapter affiliates, and the university.
  3. To respect, support and comply with the National Alumni Association's Constitution and Bylaws, other official handbooks and documents, as well as Robert's Rule of Order.
  4. To remain subject to the authority of the National Alumni Association and its Board of Directors, and the university.
  5. To respect our elected and appointed leaders and support them in conducting the business of the National Alumni Association and its chapter affiliates.
  6. To abide by the protocols of organizational structure and communications as approved by the association and university.
  7. To present myself publicly in a manner that demonstrates professionalism, ethical character, and moral behavior by:
    1. Exercising good manners
    2. Refraining from profanity, acts of violence, and criminal conduct
    3. Exhibiting respect for all members of the association and the university officials, faculty and staff by avoiding derogatory, demeaning, ridiculing, or insulting remarks
  8. To demonstrate high regard for each other, the university officials, faculty and staff by:
    1. Exercising good manners (kind, honest, fair, peacemaker)
    2. Refraining from profanity, acts of violence, and criminal conduct
    3. Exhibiting respect for the association and the university officials, faculty and staff by avoiding derogatory, demeaning, ridiculing, or insulting remarks
    4. Abiding by and actively support official association and university decisions even in the event of person disagreement
  9. To work diligently to foster the programs of the organization
  10. To participate fully in the association's meetings and conferences that enhance personal knowledge and improve association's effectiveness
  11. To maintain integrity in financial matters related to the association by:
    1. Continuing to be current with all dues and other financial obligations
    2. Observing and following approved and accepted financial procedures
    3. Maintaining accurate financial records with supporting documentation
    4. Internally and externally auditing of financial records with regularly approved frequency in accordance with association's Constitution and Bylaws
    5. Bonding of financial officers
    6. Avoiding co-mingling of personal and association's funds
    7. Utilizing tax-exempt status only as legally permitted
    8. Reporting written financial reports to the membership and the university with regularly approved frequency in accordance with association's Constitution and Bylaws
    9. Reporting misappropriation of association's funds and/or property to appropriate authority
    10. Taking the necessary action to protect and retrieve funds and/or property belonging to the association
  12. To refrain from soliciting advertisements, endorsements, and sponsorships, and speakers that have the potential to harm the image of Texas Southern University and/or the association
  13. To refrain from soliciting advertisements, endorsements, speakers and sponsorships that conflict with mission, goals, objectives, and values of Texas Southern University and/or the association.
  14. To always represent myself with high moral and ethical standards as an alumna of Texas Southern University, therefore never compromising the university's purposes, mission, or tarnishing its reputation, professional and/or academic image.
