One of the
world's most comprehensive Black
institutions of higher learning, we were
established by the Texas legislature in 1947
to educate African-Americans in such diverse
professional fields as pharmacy, dentistry,
the arts and sciences, journalism,
education, literature, law and medicine.

Preference will be given to candidates who have
a proven record of visionary leadership,
financial acumen, experience and commitment to
fund raising; exemplary communication and
listening skills, along with the ability to
articulate the vision/mission of TSU to
public/state officials and prospective donors;
and demonstrated competence in establishing a
collaborative work environment.
The Texas
legislature's designation of Texas Southern
University as "a special purpose institution of
higher education for urban programming" is the
foundation for its pedagogic goals.
