The sole legislative body of the legislative branch is the Student Senate. Senators are elected by every class and college on the campus including the law school and the graduate school.  There are also six Senators elected at-large who chair the Senate’s standing committees.  The Senate Chair serves as the head of the Senate and chairs all Senate meetings and is in charge of the legislative agenda.  The Senate Chair is selected by a majority vote of the sitting Senators at the time of vote. Senate meetings deal with legislation much like other governmental bodies under the guidelines of parliamentary procedure. The Senate serves as a liaison representing students to the faculty and administration. The Senate is comprised of several standing and special committees. The chairmen for each of the special committees are appointed by the Senate Chair.
