Welcome to the Department of Biology

 The Department of Biology offers degrees leading to the B.S. and M.S. The goals of these programs are to support and prepare students forcareers in the biological sciences, entrance into professional schools, or as an educator/researcher. Programs within the department encompass levels of biological organization from molecular to the ecosystem, with emphases on molecular toxicology at the graduate level. Students are encouraged to draw upon academic offering of other departments in the sciences, as well as departments in the Colleges of Health Sciences, College of Science and Technology, among others. In addition, close liaisons are maintained with the NASA, the University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, the University of Houston and other research and academic insitutions within the Houston and Texas area.The department takes great pride in the research and instructional quality of its faculty and graduate students. Faculty actively partner with students on advising, research, and mentoring.
