JPMorgan Chase Center for Financial Education

About Us

The JPMorgan Chase Center for Financial Education (CFE) was established in 2003 at Texas Southern University in the Jesse H. Jones School of Business. The Center was started by a generous $500,000 endowment and The State of Texas has matched the donation from JPMorgan Chase Foundation.   The Center has partnered with other educational facilities, community organizations and established businesses to educate a mass audience on personal finance and economic issues such as credit management, home buying, savings and investing.

The Center will provide training to the TSU student body and teachers in the neighboring community to aid in educating their student population. The primary benefactors of the Center’s programs are primary, secondary and college students, adults and business owners by increasing their knowledge and skills to make informed judgments and effective decisions regarding their financial circumstances.

Mission

  • to promote lifelong financial education through teaching, research and community outreach programs
  • to contribute to an individual’s knowledge of personal finances, money management, credit awareness and estate planning

Dogan Elementary School to establish an afterschool program for 5th graders attending Dogan. The project offers personal management with financial management included, scholarship, citizenship in the community and architecture and construction management curricula to aid the students in better preparation for their studies as well as developing life skills. Students participating in the project will earn while they learn.   All students participating will earn $6 per hour and all monies earned will stay in a fund until age 18 to help fund a college education or a business startup.

Money.Power.Destiny 2007

The JPMorgan Chase Center of Financial Education participated as an organizer of the Money.Power.Destiny 2007 (MPD) conference.  The Money.Power.Destiny theme was born out of the community’s need to share knowledge that will encourage better money management habits and ultimately change the destiny of African Americans.
