From: Bossier City, LA
Story:

The Texas Southern Lady Tigers proved their preseason critics wrong by fighting their way to the 2010 SWAC Tournament Semifinals in Bossier City, Louisiana.  Although, their quest for the SWAC Championship Title ended tonight in a 55-67 loss to Southern, they still have reasons to hold their heads up high.

“My players persevered all season and they made it to the SWAC tournament. I’m really proud of them for what they have accomplished to get us here,” said head coach Yolanda Wells-Broughton.

The Lady Tigers have battled Southern twice this season…winning the first game at home and dropping the last in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.  Tonight’s game was just as tough.

The teams saw six ties in the first half, before Southern went up by one (30-29) to end the first period.

Texas Southern took the lead briefly in the second half on a jumper by Jasmine Cannon.  TSU went up by two points (37-35) at the 15:01 mark.  The game tied for the ninth time at 38 about two minutes later.  The Lady Tigers then got on the wrong side of an 18 to 7 point run and found themselves trailing 45-56.

TSU fought to the end, but failed to close the gap before the final buzzer sounded.

Cannon led the Lady Tigers in scoring with 17 points and three assists.  NaDosha Strickland had 12 points and Gabrielle Rosiji earned her fifth double-double of the season with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Senior All-Conference forward Trikeyia East had seven points, six rebounds, two assists and two steals.  Senior forward Inisha Daughtry had seven rebounds.
