The NASA University Research Center (URC) Microbial-1 was the first space flight experiment opportunity for Texas Southern University, a Historically Black College and University (HBCU) in Houston, Texas. The experiment was designed by the Center for Bio-nanotechnology and Environmental Research (CBER) at Texas Southern University and used BioServe Space Technologies management support and hardware.
