Student Success Services

Welcome to the Urban Academic Village Student Success Services website. Student Success Services (SSS) strives to provide a viable, wholesome responsive academic community for all its students, but particularly for the first-year and transfer students. The newly created Student Success Services was formed by consolidating and reorganizing the programs of six formerly independent programs: Developmental Education, Cohort Program, General University Academic Student Center, Academic Retention and Motivation Services, TRIO Talent Search and Upward Bound. This reorganized program is under the auspices of the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs.

Student Success Services (SSS) provides planned coordination of curriculum faculty, staff, and instructional resources to ensure a successful transition of first year students from high school to Texas Southern University. Additionally, it provides resources to ensure the success and persistence of first year students.

Developmental Education Program Receives National Certification

The National Association of Developmental Education (NADE) Certification Council granted Texas Southern University (TSU) certification of all its developmental education coursework components (English, Reading and Mathematics.) TSU joins 37 other intitutions of higher education, and is one of only 13 institutions that have earned the certification in all its developmental courses at the same time. Attaining this certification attests to the Texas Higher Eduction Coordinating Board, our campus colleagues and all the stakeholders that our program adheres to best practices as recognized by professional research in the national governing association for developmental education programs.
