TEXAS SOUTHERN PROFESSOR AWARDED FULBRIGHT

Professor Leamon Green of the Department of Fine Arts has received a Fulbright Scholar in Residence award to teach for the 2007-2008 academic year at the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.
Green, in addition to holding the rank of associate professor, is a well known artist. He works are installed in the George Bush Intercontinental Airport, the Federal Reserve Branch in Houston, and downtown around Minute Maid Park. He has long been interested in African art, both traditional and contemporary, and intends to pursue that interest while in the East African nation of Tanzania. He is no new comer to Tanzania, having visited the country several times as part of Texas Southern’s Study Abroad program in Tanzania. Currently, he is in Tanzania with the group for the 2007 program. He will teach in the Department of Fine Arts at the University of Dar es Salaam. He will be joined in Tanzania by his wife, Susan Wallace of the St. John’s School and their daughter Isabelle Wallace Green.

- Dr. Michael O. Adams, professor of Political Science and Director of the MPA Program, will travel to Honolulu, Hawaii and Seoul, Korea, on May 28 – June 17, 2007, to participate in the Asian Studies Development Program 2007 Summer Institute on Korean Culture and Society. Dr. Adams participated in workshops addressing Korean politics and culture. He also spent a week at Seoul National University and extensively traveled in the Southern part of the Korean peninsula.
