  • Carolyn Mack and Daniel Adams Publish Awards
     

    Daniel Adams (Professor, Department of Fine Arts) served as a Composer in Residence for the Leechburg (Pennsylvania) Area High School Music Division on May 5 through May 7. The Leechburg Area High School Percussion Ensemble performed the world premiere of Adams’s Concerto for Euphonium and Percussion Quintet, a work commissioned by the school’s band director and percussion ensemble conductor Rob Reams. The solo euphonium part was played by Dr. Brian Meixner, a member of the music faculty at Pennsylvania’s Slippery Rock University. Dr. Adams presented lectures to the band and music theory class during his residency and he conducted a music composition tutorial in conjunction with the school’s gifted program.

    Carolyn Dianne Mack’s research study was recently published in the Missouri Journal of Research in Music Education.   

    Title: The Effects of Picture Book and Instrument Pictures During Music Listening on the Attentiveness, Attitude, Instrument Identification Ability, and Memory for Classical Themes of Prekindergarten Children

  • Needha Boutte Queen Invited to Teach NASW-TX LBSW Review Course. 

    Needha Boutté-Queen, Social Work Department Chair, has been invited to teach the NASW-TX LBSW Review Course for social work graduates interested in obtaining their undergraduate level license. This course will be taught at the NASW-TX Annual Conference in Ft. Worth on October 17, 2009. While in attendance at the conference, Dr. Boutté-Queen will also be a co-presenter of a peer-reviewed submission entitled Genetics and Social Work.
