Welcome to the Jesse H. Jones School of Business (JHJ) at Texas Southern University! You have come at an opportune time to take advantage of the momentum we have gained over the past year. This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the School of Business, and I am pleased that you have made the decision to join us as we begin another chapter in our rich history, one that will further support JHJ’s place in history as a premiere institution of higher learning.

In response to your needs and the rapidly changing business environment, we now offer additional graduate programs. You can obtain a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a General Business concentration or a Health Care Administration concentration, a dual MBA/JD degree, or a Master’s in Science degree in Management Information Systems.

The business world has become increasingly global and highly competitive. It is our goal that our new programs, curricula, and technology will prepare you for success in a high performance workplace anywhere around the globe.

By the time you graduate, I am confident that you will have a thorough understanding of modern business and how that knowledge applies, and you will have had the unique opportunity to practice your skills in a business environment.

We offer an MBA degree in General business and a concentration in Health Care Administration is available in collaboration with the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. Before long, concentrations in energy, accounting, and others would be available to prepare our graduates for today’s knowledge-oriented and specialized work places. We also offer a dual JD/MBA program in cooperation with Thurgood Marshall School of Law. The newest addition to our graduate programs is to commence an M.S. degree in MIS from fall 2005. Above all, we are here to serve you, to cater to your needs, and to help you along the way in your educational undertaking.

On behalf of the faculty and staff in the department, I welcome prospective students to the graduate programs in the Jesse H. Jones School of Business. Our mission is to prepare students for managerial level careers in Business, Health Administration, and Management Information Systems areas. The curriculum is application oriented and is reviewed frequently to incorporate contemporary issues in its scope and content. We are committed to providing a high quality education to our students with the help of highly qualified faculty, information technology and experiential learning in curriculum delivery. Your feedback is eagerly sought for continuous improvement of our programs.

I want to highlight a few things that make the Jesse H. Jones School of Business special. Our biggest strength is that we value teaching and student learning. We ensure that our students are taught by highly qualified faculty who are specialized in their areas of teaching. Our small class size allows the students to interact well with the faculty.
