MBA WITH CONCENTRATION IN HEALTH CARE ADMINISTRATION top
The concentration is offered in collaboration with the College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. The Concentration in Health Care Administration is designed to broaden the career opportunities for MBA students in the health care field. Due to the special status of Houston as a major national hub for health care facilities and related industries, the new concentration in the MBA program allows graduates to pursue opportunities beyond the traditional business areas.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS top
MBA students with unconditional status will be eligible to pursue this concentration. The students that are currently or previously enrolled in the “Master of Health Care Administration (MHCA)” program from the College of Pharmacy & Health Sciences and subsequently or concurrently want to pursue the MBA are not eligible for this concentration.
CURRICULUM REQUIREMENTS top
Students must satisfy the MBA Core curriculum requirements (27 credit hours) along with the concentration requirements (12 credit hours) to complete the MBA degree requirement.
DEGREE REQUIREMENTS top
- MBA CORE Requirements – 27 Semester Credits
[A total of nine (9) business courses]
- HCA Concentration Requirements – 12 Semester Credits
[A Total of any four (4) out of five (5) following Health Care Administration (HCA) Courses]
- HSHA 512 (Introduction to Health Care Organizations) – 3 hours
- HSHA 671 (Managerial & Cost Accounting in Health Care Organizations) – 3 hours
- HSHA 514 (Human Resources Management and Labor Relations) – 3 hours
- HSHA 612 (Heal Care Law and Bioethics) – 3 hours
- HSHA 662 (Health Policy Analysis) – 3 hours
