Student organizations operating in the Jesse H. Jones School of Business contribute significantly to the total educational experience. They are important vehicles for creative interaction among students, between students and faculty, and between students and their counterparts on other campuses. They also provide linkages between the School and the business and professional community where some are national in scope.
Recognition of Academic Achievement.
Excellence in academic achievement is recognized annually at a Student Awards Banquet. Some of the awards and scholarships given include:
- Outstanding Graduate Student in the Department of Accounting;
- Texas Society of CPA's Accounting Excellence Award;
- Distinguished Accounting Student;
- Outstanding Senior in the Department of Accounting;
- Outstanding Junior in the Department of Accounting;
- Finance Excellence Award;
- Management Excellence Award;
- Marketing Excellence Award;
- Financial Executive Institute A ward; and
- Alumni Association Scholarships.
Each full-time junior- or senior-level student achieving a 3.25 grade point average during a given semester is named to the Dean's Distinguished Honor Roll. These individuals are also recognized at the annual Student Awards Banquet. Student Organizations and Publication of a Newsletter. Many student organizations in the School of Business actively engage students in out-of-class educational experiences. Faculty takes an active role in advising these organizations, recognizing that involvement in them contributes significantly to the development of social and cognitive skills that are part of the School's mission. Student organizations are important vehicles for creative interaction between students and faculty, students and prospective employers, and between students and their counterparts on other campuses. The undergraduate student organizations and some of their activities can be seen in Table S.3.
